The Georgia Aquarium is located in Atlanta, Georgia, at Pemberton Place and is the world’s largest aquarium. It has over ten million gallons of marine and fresh water and is home to more than 120,000 animals of 500 different species. The aquarium’s most famous specimens include four young whale sharks, four beluga whales, and four manta rays.
The Georgia Aquarium officially opened on November 23, 2005, As the largest aquarium in the world, it features more animals than any other aquarium and more than sixty exhibits. The Aquarium aims to be an entertaining, intriguing and educational experience for guests of all ages and to instill in its guests a new appreciation for the world’s aquatic biodiversity.
Among the exhibits are: “Tropical Diver”, “River Scout”, “Dolphin Tales”, and ”Ocean Voyager”, which is the only exhibit in the world to display manta rays. You can walk through an acrylic tunnel or stand in front of a giant acrylic viewing window and get lost in the vastness of the aquarium.
