September is over which means my favorite month - October - is finally here and Salt Lake City, Utah, happens to have one of the scariest Halloween attractions around, Nightmare on 13th.
The Night of the Dead is one of their new attractions this year and I’ll let them tell you all about it: “Most nightmares fade into a distant memory but this is one nightmare you can’t escape, even after you’re dead. The apocalypse encroaches upon you and grows with every death. The dead desire their same fate for each and every one of us. As their instinctive hunger drives their every move, one wonders if they even know they are dead. This is the time for bravery. We must stand together to defeat this infestation before it finds victims in all mankind.”
Also new this year is the Realm of Darkness and here’s how their Web site describes it: “From your deepest darkest nightmares lurk creatures from the Realm of Darkness. For many years these unwelcome creatures have grown more powerful in the shadows of the Nightmare on 13th. Under the instruction of their leader, they have boldly taken control of the nightmare. They have sworn vengeance against the human race for having exiled them for so long. They have been released from the darkness, and are fighting for their right to exist.”
Excuse me, but who is this leader of the realm of darkness? Creepy!
And then, of course, there is The Nightmare Theater, which is what made them famous in the first place. It is regarded as one of the very best and most technologically-advanced shows in the entire Haunted House industry. Now that’s saying something! I may just have to travel to Salt Lake City to see how it compares with the few creepy encounters I have been brave enough to try.
Nightmare on 13th is open now through early November and has varying hours so be sure to check here to see when they are open. You can even download a coupon here to save a few bucks on your visit.
Don’t make the incorrect assumption that the only people who live in Salt Lake City, Utah are Mormon... they apparently have zombies too!
