This shipping success story comes courtesy of one of our Canadian locations - Navis Pack & Ship of Toronto.
Shaukat Chaney, an artist in Canada, approached Navis Pack & Ship Toronto recently to ask about getting a custom sculpture to its new home. Shaukat is a trained sculptor who worked in the dental industry creating craniofacial prostheses for trauma and cancer patients for many years. He eventually left to pursue his own sculpting full time and now has a gallery and is commissioned to create custom sculptures for fans around the world. One of his latest works is the sculpture called Matsya, a large alabaster fish of extraordinary detail. Alabaster is a beautiful natural formation (those swirls of cream and bronze are not man-made) but is not particularly sturdy. In fact, some types of alabaster are easily scratched, which meant this one-of-a-kind sculpture needed expert packing during the shipping process.
Shaukat created Matsya for Mr. and Mrs. Ram Boolchand, who happen to live in Caribbean. This sculpture wasn't just traveling from one country to the next, it was going across hemispheres. So the folks at Navis Pack & Ship Toronto sized it up, created a custom crating plan, and confidently accepted the job. The images above show the extreme care that goes into each custom crating job: layers of protective foam, cushioning on all sides (and even in between pieces of the sculpture), and support on the crate itself to ensure no damage would come to it en route. We knew this sculpture could not arrive damaged, and we knew it would be impossible to fix or replace (not just because the artist and the sculpture would then be thousands of miles apart), but to make matters more crucial the recipient is a well known business man and dignitary. Pressure is on!
Of course, the sculpture arrived in perfect condition and Shaukat expressed his gratitude and happiness for Navis Pack & Ship getting it there in a timely manner and with such care.
Remember, when you need to get it there with care, choose Navis Pack & Ship!
