Fall Art Events for 2013

It's finally fall! Art seems to come alive in the fall, perhaps because artists are inspired by the drastically changing landscape and atmosphere. Nature is a huge part of all forms of art, and fall is the time when colors are brightest and change is more noticeable. Take advantage of these fall art events around the country and get inspired to freshen up the art in your home. Maybe even create your own art!

San Diego:

According to Fall for the Arts, October is when arts and culture take center stage. In celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month, residents of and visitors to San Diego will get to experience the variety of discounts, pecial programs, and activities throughout San Diego county. This is the month to expand your horizons with free and cheap events for the whole family and all levels of art appreciation. Plus, it's Kids Free month at 35 different museums and the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park; get those kids introduced to art and nature early to ensure a more fulfilling life.

Nashville:

The birthplace of many styles of music, Nashville is on the art train. They're changing the name of the month from October to Artober in celebration of the month-long arts and culture love fest. See traveling exhibitions, contemporary art, and more in the single largest celebration of arts and culture in the South. Designed to inform and inspire Nashville's awareness of art and get everyone active with and participating in the art activities and events held all month long, Artober aims to get "every Nashvillian to experience the arts." VIP Card holders will enjoy discounts and other special offers at the many participating organizations, too. Tune in to social media channels to learn about "pop up" events and other special activities!

Chicago:

If there's one thing we think of when it comes to fall it's food. So many good foods suddenly sound delicious when the weather gets colder (pumpkin anything!), and art and food have gone hand in hand since the first fruit still life portraits. The Art Institute of Chicago is celebrating the marriage of art and food with their new events, called Art and Appetite: American Painting, Culture and Cuisine. Art about food speaks to our culture just as much as it does to our tastes, and visitors can learn about and explore both themes. Since looking at all that art about food is sure to make you hungry, you can sit down to a courmet meal or quick lunch or coffee at one of the Institute's three dining options.
