With a café, museum, theatre and school, The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center is the town square of art in Colorado Springs. The all-encompassing facility has enough artistic expression to satisfy most states. Founded in 1936 by Alice Bernis Taylor, the 1.6-acre building features intricate Art Deco and Southwestern architecture and houses the Taylor Museum.
Some of the exhibits currently in the museum are Andrew Beckham’s Firmament, intricate photographs of magnified objects, “Honoring A Legacy”, an exhibition dedicated to Native American work, and several more. Some upcoming shows include Pamela Joseph’s Slideshow of the Absurd and “Strange and Wonderful - American Folk Art from the Willem Volkersz Collection”.
Performing Arts also take center stage at the Fine Arts Center with performances from string quartets to plays such as “The Wizard of Oz”. If you prefer something more hands-on, consider a class at the Bemis School. Classes range from jewelry making to watercolor painting and photography, and classes are available for all ages and skill levels.
