While in Joliet, Illinois, there are many forms of public art that tell the history of the city. This is made possible by Friends of Community Public Art, a not for profit organization. The artwork around the city includes sculptures, murals, and mosaics that portray the community’s culture and legacy. The themes include African American, Native American and Hispanic heritage, sports, nature, music, veterans and more.
Not only can you see the display in public, but also The Forge Gallery offers paintings and bronze sculptures for purchase. In addition, the public art represented on t-shirts, bags, coasters and postcards are also for sale. The gallery is open Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm.
If historical artwork is your style, be sure to look at the Forge Gallery to purchase your very own painting or sculpture. Navis will be glad to pack and ship your piece of history wherever it needs to go!
