Children’s Interactive Paradise in Sacramento

Children's Museum Sacramento

One of the best ways to ensure a great future for the next generation is to provide our children with an incredible education both in and outside the classroom. Since learning (and in effect - education) is really more of a lifelong process rather than just rooms full of kids with a lecturer, to get it started, bring your kids to a children’s museum and ignite the initial sparks of their curiosity. It is our job to get them interested in how and why things work.

The Sacramento Children’s Museum (SCM) is really the brainchild of Kathleen Palley, a local mom who is a passionate supporter of interactive learning for kids. Open since 2011, SCM is brightening the minds of its young visitors. She believes that by allowing children facilitate their own exploration of our world, in the future kids will be more likely to explore information on their own. Since learning should be fun, kids’ seeking out information pertaining to areas of interest is a good way to get them started.

Because the focus of the museum is to foster interest in learning through interactive experiences combining them with playing is very much encouraged. Therefore, October is full of various weekly classes and activities. For instance, kids can partake in Artober on Saturday mornings or reCreate on Friday nights – weekly art projects designed using recycled materials that involve recreating famous works of art, children’s books or Halloween themed projects. There is also dancing on Friday evenings that make a night at the museum a really fun experience.

Basically speaking, if the SCM is open there is usually something going on, such as Clay Week, Cultural Connections or Baby Bloomers Story. While the museum is mainly for children between the ages of 0-8, older children are more than welcome to attend and partake in the activities. On November 8th, even adults will get a chance to partake in a challenge dubbed “Junk 2 Genius” where it will their turn to use recycled materials to create art in 90-minutes. So check out it out, and stop on by.
