Every year the Durham Art Council puts on an art event at the City Center in Downtown Durham called CenterFest Arts Festival. This year the festival will be held Saturday and Sunday September 21-22 2013. The 39th Annual Festival has drawn incredible crowds, even visitors from around the region and country!
CenterFest is dedicated to showcasing the talents of local (and a few regional) artists of all mediums and is a family-friendly event. Dozens of visual artists, with works ranging from watercolor to unique blends of materials to wearable art such as jewelry and fabrics, performance artists and more will expose the public to the wonder and creativity that artists create. There will be opportunities to purchase art work from the local and regional vendors, sample food and drink from local restaurants and vendors, and participate in the Creative Community Exposition. Even let the kids get in on the action with the CenterFest Creative Kids Zones, full of imaginitive activities, performances and interactive games.
The CenterFest Arts Festival is the perfect place to spend a weekend with friends, family, out-of-towners and the community at large, appreciating and learning about the various art presented there. Getting there: The Bull City Connector is fare-free from Duke to Golden Belt (including downtown Durham). The Durham Bicycle Coalition is also providing bike valet parking.
