Art is Where the Heart Is
Art is one of the biggest qualities that helps us differentiate ourselves from the other animals (which is also a reason why elephants and orangutangs who paint seem so much like humans). The science and art of art is truly a human endeavor; one that helped us find and define ourselves since the dawn of time. Anyone involved in creating art, or even who have taken an art history class in college, recalls that art has taken on so many variations in the short span of human history: from cave paintings of animals to the renaissance period to modern art. Therefore, in honor of the constant change of art, here are 4 current artists who do things differently.

JeeYoung Lee
This Korean artist is garnering praise thanks to her uniquely stunning works of art. She creates different worlds in her studio apartment through creative use of props and décor. From a Lego paradise to a rather unique interpretation of “The Last Supper”, the artistic visionary is truly skilled at manipulating her interior design to look like anything at all. And because she makes sure to feature herself in the middle of her creations, it’s as if she breathes her own life into every reincarnation of her room.
Alex Vanzetti
This impressive photographer is known for creating unbelievably fluid and elegant scenes on land and underwater. Placing his subjects in interesting and unexpected settings, such as dusty sand dunes and colorful reefs, he creates stories that convey a scope of personal emotions such as modesty, love, or reflection. While his work is not groundbreaking per se, his willingness to play around with locations and to create stories by using his subjects in creative ways truly captures the mind and imagination in a way that other photographers haven't.
Marina Abramovic
Marina Abramovic is considered to be the grandmother of performance art. Active since the 1970s, the New-York based artist is famous for her work portfolio that includes the famous piece, “The Artist is Here”, where she engaged in a 736-hour and 30-minute (that's one month!) static and silent piece, which she performed at New York’s Museum of Modern Art between March and May in 2010. Known for exploring the relationship between the artist and the audience, she has been a key player in spearheading performance art forward. She's not your typical performance artist, and she's been critical in changing how audiences view performance art.
Cecily Brown
Cecily Brown’s work is hard to describe. Think of it as impressionism meeting Goya and hopefully you’ll understand what we’re talking about. Born in London, the New York-based artist is amassing a fan base for her interesting creations. She combines rough paintwork with bright colors to create sensual scenes (usually nudes) veiled in abstract elements. Brown is also famous for giving many of her works fun names derived from famous movies and musicals.
